Texas Cities Have the Power to Determine the Future of Billboards and Signs.
The Texas Legislature has given cities the power to decide if billboards and signs should be legal within the municipality.
“This subchapter is not intended to require a municipality to provide for the relocation, reconstruction, or removal of any sign in the municipality, nor is it intended to prohibit a municipality from requiring the relocation, reconstruction, or removal of any sign. This subchapter is intended only to authorize a municipality to take that action and to establish the procedure by which the municipality may do so.” – Local Government Code, Chapter 216 ETJ
Each city may or may not have laws that protect against billboards, digital signs, and other visual environment impacts.
