Scenic Fort Worth in 2001
2001 was a busy year for Scenic Fort Worth. The following list will give you an idea of the areas of focus:
- Support for the newly adopted Public Art Ordinance that sets aside 2% on all new city projects for public art.
- Establishment of a committee to review the Landscape Ordinance and to develop a tree preservation amendment.
- Service on the Advisory Committee for the Streams & Valleys "Trinity River Vision."
- Development of Urban Design Guidelines and the required process adopted by City Council.
- Continued monitoring of the process and design for SH121/Southwest Tollroad.
For the second year, Scenic Fort Worth hosted an Annual Scenic Award Luncheon recognizing three community projects:
- The Handley Neighborhood Association and the Handley Initiative, a group of business owners, for cooperating in revitalization.
- Shirlee Grady for quality adaptive re-use of a significant historic building.
- The Fort Worth Transportation Authority, for excellent urban design and historic preservation at the T&P Station and at the 9th Street Intermodal Station
