“Green Billboards”: Air Pollution vs. Visual Pollution

A recent Coca-Cola billboard in the Phillipines has been making headlines as the first “green billboard.” Constructed with recycled materials and utilizing potted plants, the billboard reads “This Billboard Absorbs Air Pollution.”  But what of the Visual Pollution created by billboards?  http://www.rwdmag.com/2011/07/coca-cola-create-environmentally-friendly-billboard/

Taxpayer’s Trees to be Cut Down for Billboard Visibility

 The Governor of Georgia recently signed off on a law that will allow for the clearcutting of trees to promote billboard visibility.  This seems counterproductive considering these trees are on state roads and were paid for with taxpayer dollars. http://www.gpb.org/news/2011/05/13/deal-oks-cutting-trees-by-billboards
